St. Louis Sheriff Alfred Montgomery jailed by judge
St. Louis Sheriff Alfred Montgomery is facing new calls to resign after he was jailed over charges related to witness tampering involving a burner phone, a judge ruled.
The ruling was made during a detention hearing on Tuesday afternoon after prosecutors testified that Montgomery withheld information about owning a burner phone, which he allegedly threatened his employees with. Prosecutors also said he lied about how many guns he had at his home, and had inconsistent answers about his drug use after testing positive for marijuana.
